CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 PM <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, <br />Howard Ebow, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke, and Norman <br />Malone. <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: Peter Griffiths. <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Emplovees Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, City Attorney Knox Askins, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, City Secretary <br />Martha Gillett, Assistant City Secretary Sharon Harris, Finance Director Cynthia <br />Alexander, Assistant Finance Director Mike Dolby, Director of Administrative Services <br />Louis Rigby, Public Works Director Steve Gillett, Planning Director Doug Kneupper, <br />Police Chief Richard Reff, Administrative Secretary Rose Hall, Deputy <br />Clerk/Receptionist Charlotte Boudreaux, and City Engineer Masood Malik. <br /> <br />Others Present:, Reverend Dan Chappell, Colleen Hicks, Dave Turnquist, Nick Barrera, <br />Jean Young, Icess Fernandez, Spero Pomonis, Bea Svambera, and a number of citizens. <br /> <br />2. Reverend, Dan Chappell of Fairmont Park Baptist Church delivered the invocation. <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes ofthe Special Called Meeting and Public <br />Hearing on March 19,2001. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve the minutes of the Special <br />Called Regular Meeting and Public Hearing on March 19.2001 as presented. Second by <br />Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke and Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAXPAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL. <br /> <br />The following citizens addressed City Council: <br /> <br />Bennie Martinez - 14026 Wadsbridge Houston, Texas 77015 - Gregory Garcia - 4607 <br />Lamar Houston, Texas 77023 Mr. Martinez and Mr. Garcia with The Seguin Family <br />Historical Society addressed council about Juan Seguin and the many great deeds he did <br />in the state of Texas. They requested the city to rename Highway 225 to the Juan Seguin <br />Memorial Highway. <br />
