<br />L~linutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

<br />A..sewe~ extension for the Church of Christ in Block"133, La Porte, was dis-
<br />cussed. Five property owners have indicated that they are willing to parti-
<br />cipate in the .cost of construction of this line. The City will pay for fialf of the
<br />cons~Cruction of the first 500 feet, and the property owners vrill pay the
<br />balance. The Ii~ayor anal 11~r. Arthur instructed the City Clerk to proceed.with ,.
<br />the collection of 'money from .the property owners, so that this line can be
<br />constructed. -
<br />A, letter from I~~r. ~w'harton i7eems to ~.~r. Frank G:' Baker, Tax A,ssesscr ~& Oollector,
<br />was read. P.~r. Y+Ieems stated that he has been paying taxes on a number of
<br />pieces of property that he does not own, for a number of years, through a
<br />mistake in "his records. He further stated that he was of the opinion that
<br />payments made on lots that he does not arm should either be reimbursed or
<br />applied . on the payment of other taxes which he does awe the City.
<br />After discussion, and upon advise of ?;1r. Kiibler, motion by Boyle, second
<br />by Osborn, that no refund be made on any tax payments made prior to July
<br />1, 1958, and any payments made in error by IvIr . ~t~de ems on or after July 1,
<br />1958 on property which he does n of arrn si1a11 be refunded to him upon return
<br />of his receipts, and provided that rio tax certificates have been issued
<br />thereon.

<br />Mr. Tord Osborn brought up the fact that the Benson Tractcm Company has a
<br />good used ditching machine for sale for X3,750.00. He stated that in his
<br />opinion this equipment was badly needed by the City, and that it would
<br />pay for itself in a short time. ~~otion by Osborn, second by Boyle, that
<br />the City purchase this machine on a lease-rent deal, at X200.00 per month,
<br />the first payment being clue and payable ~5 to 60 days after delivery, subject
<br />to the legality of the City purchasing equipment costing this much without
<br />taking bids.
