. I <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />• OF THE <br />LA FORTE CITY COMMISSION, LA FORTE, TEXAS <br />MAY 17, 1971 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. Carlos Smith, <br />Commissioners E. A. Thomas, I. J. Kiobdeaux and G.E. Sampson. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: Commissioner H.Gould Crofoot. <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: P.V.Werner, City Administrator; <br />Virginia Cline, City Clerk; Knox Askins, City Attorney; <br />Robert Cline, Director of Public Works; Robert R. Hall, <br />Asst Chief of Police and Jack Oliphant, Fire Chief. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Smith. <br />• <br />+ + + <br />Invocation was offered by Commissioner Sampson. <br />1. Motion by Comm. Kibodeaux, seconded by Comm. Thomas <br />to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of <br />May 3, 1971 as presented. Motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux and Sampson. <br />NAYS: None. <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Crofoot. <br />+ + + <br />• <br />2. Mr. J. R. Spradling addressed the Commission in <br />regards to the City endorsing the Bayshore <br />Ecumenical Housing Association. Mr. Spradling <br />stated the city does not have facilities to serve <br />the people in the city now and that he did not <br />feel the city could serve the Housing Association's <br />project, particularly since the bond election had <br />failed. He also said he had attended meetings of <br />the Association and had been told that the City <br />was supporting their efforts. <br />
