<br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />• OF THE <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />MAY 3, 1971 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. Carlos Smith, <br />Commissioners E. A. Thomas, I. J. Kibodeaux, G. E. Sampson <br />and H. Gould Crofoot. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None. <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: P. V. Werner, City Administrator; <br />Virginia Cline, City Clerk; Knox Askins, City Attorney; <br />Robert Cline, Director of Public Works and H. F. Freeman, <br />Chief of Police. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Smith. <br />• + + + <br />Invocation was offered by Commissioner Kibodeaux. <br />1. Motion by Comm. Thomas, seconded by Comm. Sampson <br />to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of <br />April 19, 1971 as presented. Motion carried by <br />the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux, Sampson <br />and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />+ + + <br />2. Mr. Harold Pfeiffer addressed the Commission in <br />regards to tax inequities relative to mobile homes <br />and permanent residences. He suggested that the <br />Commission review the situation to bring the tax- <br />ation on mobile homes more in fair proportion to <br />that of the home owner. <br />Mr. Pfeiffer also stated the Industrial District <br />Contracts would be up for renewal next year and <br />• since he had had experience on the contracts from <br />the beginning, he would be willing to offer any <br /> <br />
