P~~embers of the Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, Council- persons Norman Malone, John Longley, Edward Matuszak, Kevin Graves, Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, Don Skelton, Linda Westergren Members of the Council Absent: None Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, City Attorney Knox Askins, Acting City Secretary Cherie Black, Chief of Police Herb Freeman, Fire Chief Joe Sease, Fire P4arshal Paul Hickenbottom, Engineering Director John Joerns, Assistant Director of Public Works Steve Gillett • Others Present: Frieda Beaty of the Baytown Sun; Craig Garnett of the Bayshore Sun; Jef f Patterson of the Southeast j~leekly; Fred Beck of H. Carlos Smith Engineering; Dave Corbin of Busch, Hutchison & Associates; Dick Bell of the Ba_Vshore Sun. There were 21 citizens present. 2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Norman Malone. 3. A motion was made by Councilperson Malone to approve the minutes of the La Porte City Council Meeting held May 19, 1982 with a correction on item #6, changing the person making the motion from Councilperson Skelton to Councilperson Pfeiffer. Second by Councilperson Longley. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline Nays: None 4. Council considered the Mayor's recommendation that Councilperson Norman Malone serve as Mayor Pro-Tem of the City of La Porte from May 1, 1982 through April 30, 1985. Motion was made by Councilperson Graves, seconded by Councilperson Matuszak, to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 1321 as read by Attorney Askins, "An Ordinance Appointing a Member of the City Council (Norman Malone), To Serve as Mayor Pro-Tem of the City of La Porte, for the Term May 1, 1982, Until April 30, 1985, and Providing an Effective Date Hereof."
