MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />MARCH 1, 1993 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Alton <br />Porter (arrived at 6:05 P.M.), Deotis Gay (arrived at 6:35 <br />P.M.), Jack Maxwell, Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson Bob McLaughlin <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Director of Public Works Steve <br />Gillett, Police Chief Bobby Powell, Planning Director Chuck <br />Harrington, Director of Parks and Recreation Stan Sherwood, <br />Finance Director Jeff Litchfield, Director of Administrative <br />Services Louis Rigby, Recreation Superintendent Tim O'Connor, <br />Buyer Susan Kelley <br />Others Present: Lori Lee; James Lawn; John Black, Bayshore <br />Sun, two citizens <br />2. In the absence of Councilperson Porter, the invocation was <br />given by City Attorney Knox Askins. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the public <br />hearings and regular meeting held February 22, 1993. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve the <br />February 22 minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays <br />(Councilpersons Porter and Gay had not yet arrived). <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4. The Mayor proclaimed March as Youth Art Month. Miss Lori Lee, <br />La Porte High School, accepted the proclamation. <br />5. There were no citizens wishing to address Council. <br />6. Council adjourned into executive session at 6:08 P.M. under <br />V.A.T.S. - Article 6252-17, Section 2(E), (F), (G), (R) - <br />(Legal, Land Acquisition, Personnel, and Conference(s) with <br />City Employees) to Receive Information) , as follows: Section <br />2(E) (Legal) - Meet with Attorney to discuss pending <br />litigation. Council returned to the table at 7:04 P.M., with <br />no action having been taken. <br />
