PERMITS, INSPECTI ONS, AND POSTING OF UVE WADS. <br />(a) No building or structure shall hereafter be built, enlarged, <br />altered or moved without a permit from the building official, who may require <br />a pl~ of the proposed wat'k" together with a statement of the ma terials to be <br /> <br />used. <br /> <br />(b) The building official shall inspect all buildings at" st rtlctures <br /> <br />d".1l'ing construction to see that the provisions of law are complied wi. th and that <br /> <br />ct:>nstruction is prosecuted safely. Whenever in his opinion, by reason of defec- <br />t:Lve or illegal work in violation of a provision cl this Ordinance, the continuance <br />of a building operation is contrary to public welfare, he may order all further <br />vl()rk to be stopped and may require suSpension of work until the condition in <br /> <br />v:Lolation has been remedied. <br /> <br />(c) The live load fat" which each float'" or part of a noor, of a <br /> <br />b"lsiness building or storage building is designed and approved shall be con- <br /> <br />spicuously posted in that part of the story to which it applies. <br /> <br />Section 7. SUPPLEMENTARY REQumEMENTS. <br />The 1949 Edition' of the National Building Code reconnnended by the <br /> <br />National Board of Fire Underwriters shall be deemed to be t~e generally accepted <br />g':>od practice fat" all matters not covered by this Ordinance. <br />~,.~~ <br />'-.., <br />(a) A. building or structure that may be or shall be fomd upon in- <br /> <br />'., <br /> <br />SECTION 8. UNSAFE BUILDINGS. <br /> <br />SJ~ection to have become dangerous or unsafe, shall, unless ~e safe and so <br />c,artif'ied by the building official, be taken down and. removed.. <br /> <br />, <br />(b) A building or structure declared \msafe by duly constituted <br />ailthority set up by the municipality may be restored to safe condition; provided <br />that if' the damage or cost of reconstruction or restorati on is in ex cess of 50% <br />of th e value of the building or structure" ex clusi ve of foundations, such building <br /> <br />at" structure, if' reconstructed or restored, shall be made to conform with respect <br />to materials and type cl construction, to the requirements for buildings and , <br />structures hereafter erected; but no change of use or occupancy shall be compelled <br />bY'reason of such reconstruction or restoration. The term UIlsafe building shall <br />include buildings structurally UIlsafe, \mstable or \msani tary; inadequately provided <br />with ex it facilities; constituting a fire hazard; \msuitable or improper for the <br />u,se of occupancy to which they are put; constituting a hazard to health or ,safety <br />
