<br />III. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS <br /> <br />1. Position Classifications <br /> <br />All City positions are classified as either exempt or nonexempt, and paid in <br />accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. <br /> <br />2. Salary Administration <br /> <br />The City may have one or more salary schedules that correspond with the <br />position classification plan. All salary schedules shall be administered in <br />accordance with the City policy Salary Administration of the Personnel Policy <br />approved by Council as subsequently amended. <br /> <br />3. Method of Payment <br /> <br />Employees shall receive a bi-weekly paycheck. The paycheck will ordinarily <br />cover the preceding pay period. A pay period is completed every 2 weeks and <br />ends the Sunday prior to the next Friday payday. <br /> <br />If a payday falls on a holiday, paychecks will be issued the last business day <br />prior to the holiday. <br /> <br />Employees may receive a paycheck 1 day early in accordance with procedures <br />issued by the Director of Finance. <br /> <br />Paychecks may be given to someone other than the employee if the employee <br />provides proper notification to the representative responsible for check <br />distribution. <br /> <br />4. Separation Pay <br /> <br />Employees who terminate employment with the City in accordance with the Exit <br />Interview Procedures issued by Human Resources will be paid accrued benefits <br />and will be paid in accordance with Article 5155 of the Revised Civil Statutes of <br />Texas. <br /> <br />Any employee who does not return City issued property will have the cost of the <br />City's property deducted from the final paycheck. <br /> <br />5. Overtime Pay <br /> <br />Employees shall work overtime hours only when-necessary and not without prior <br />approval of their Department Director. Overtime hours are computed at the rate <br />of one and one-half times the regular hourly rate of pay. The City follows the Fair <br />Labor Standards Act (FLSA) in administering overtime pay. <br /> <br />Employee Policies Handbook/Page 13 <br />
