Administrative, Interdepartmental, and intradepartmental lateral transfers shall abide by the <br />same terms as above, and do not require a posting of the job opportunity announcement. <br />2.06 Demotions <br />Voluntary Demotion <br />Voluntary Demotions require the approval of the Department Director, and the City Manager, <br />and will be considered only if they are in the best interest of the City. All documentation must be <br />reviewed by the Human Resources Manager. If approved, employees may be administratively <br />demoted at their own request, or as an alternative to layoff. Such demotions shall not be <br />considered disciplinary actions or disqualify the employee involved from consideration for future <br />advancement. Demotions resulting from alternatives to layoffs may be fully or partially <br />rescinded at any time. Demoted employees will not be eligible for a salary adjustment until one- <br />year from date of demotion. <br />Involuntary Demotions <br />Involuntary Demotions require the approval of the Department Director and the City Manager. <br />All documentation must be reviewed by the Human Resources Manager. This action may be <br />taken for disciplinary purposes or any other purpose deemed necessary. An employee <br />involuntarily demoted shall not be disqualified from consideration for future advancement. <br />2.07 Appointments <br />The purpose of categorizing positions within the <br />position's work routine as well as to clarify the <br />type of position. <br />City service is to designate the nature of the <br />eligibility of benefits provided to the particular <br />There are two types of appointments: Regular and Temporary. Regular appointments are <br />further divided into: <br />Regular Employees <br />1. Regular full-time employees are those who work a minimum of 40 hours per week, or 53 <br />hours per week for 24-hour shift personnel, but are not employed for only a specific <br />period of time or for a special job task or project. <br />2. Regular part-time employees are those who work less than 40 hours per week on a <br />regular basis. Regular part-time employees in the 24-hour shift job class may work over <br />40 hours per week, but less than 53 hours per week. <br />Temporary Employees <br />1. Temporary/seasonal full-time employees are those who work a minimum of 40 hours per <br />week, or 53 hours per week for 24-hour shift personnel, but are employed only for a <br />specific period of time or for a special job task or project. <br />2. Temporary/seasonal part-time employees are those who work less than 40 hours per <br />week, or less than 53 hours per week for 24-hour shift personnel, for a specified period <br />of time or for a special job task or project. <br />0 <br />
