Page 3 of 10 <br />Subject: ANNUAL VACATION LEAVE <br />1. Each full time employee shall be entitled to ten (10) <br />working days vacation leave for each year of employment. <br />2. Accrual of vacation leave is on the basis of 5/6th <br />working day for each month of employment. <br />3. After ten (10) years of continuous service an employee <br />is entitled to fifteen (15) working days annual vacation leave. <br />Accrual is calculated on the basis of 1-1/4 working days per <br />month. <br />4. The number of months an employee works during the first <br />calendar year times 5/6 equal the number of days vacation employee <br />is elibible to receive during the next calendar year. EXAMPLE: <br />Employee begins work on September 1st, 1970, and works through <br />december 31st, 1970. Employee would be entitled to four(4) <br />months times 5/6, equaling 3-2/6 days vacation, In this case, <br />three (3) days where the remainder is less than one-half (2). <br />These three (3) days vacation can be scheduled to be taken during <br />the calendar year January 1, 1971 - December 31, 1971. During <br />1972 employee may schedule ten (10) days vacation for working <br />from January 1, 1971 thru December 31, 1971. <br />5. During the first ten (10) years of service an employee <br />. is allowed to carry over five (5) days vacation from one year to <br />the next, by taking one (1) week this year and three (3) weeks <br />the next. Employees entitled to fifteen (15) days vacation <br />(after ten (10) years continuous service) shall take their three <br />(3) weeks each calendar year. <br />6. Vacation leave shall be arranged with department heads <br />and approved by the City Administrator. Department heads should <br />arrange vacations at such times as will least interfere with the <br />efficient operation of the city and at the same time consider <br />the employee. Where there is a conflict of two employees wanting <br />the same time off, preference should be given the employee with <br />the longer tenure. <br />7. There shall be a record furnished by the department <br />head to the office showing how much vacation each employee has <br />taken at the time he or she takes off. <br />8. Termination leave shall be figured on the same basis as <br />when an employee is hired (No. 4). Accumulated time at 5/6th day <br />per month, less time taken, equals amount employee will be paid. <br />After ten (10) years service figure as No. 3. <br />9. Should an employee get sick while on vacation, he or she <br />shall furnish the city a Doctor's Certificate showing date and <br />nature of illness. <br />• 10. Employees will be allowed to draw salary in advance <br />when going on vacation. <br />11. Each employee is expected to take a vacation each year, <br />and will not be paid in lieu of vacation. <br />
