The City Commission has elected to have the City become <br />self insured under the Workmen's Compensation laws of the <br />State of Texas. This means that all employees are protected <br />just the same as if they were covered by an insurance company. <br />2. An employee injured while in the performance of his <br />assigned duties for the City, no matter how slight the injury, <br />shall immediately report to his supervisor and receive first aid <br />and, if necessary, be taken to a doctor or a hospital. <br />3. NOTE TO DEPARTMENT HEADS: Fill out accident report, take <br />statements o ellow wor ers who witnessed the accident and <br />see that this information is attached to the attending physician's <br />report and turned in to the office. <br />4. Time and amount an employee is paid while off duty due to <br />injury is figured as follows: <br />Workmen's Compensation will take precedence and pay <br />first when an employee is injured on the job. At <br />this writing (1-26-73) Workmen's Compensation pays <br />• .$49.00 per week, starting on the 8th day. <br />An employee's sick leave pay will be used to supplement <br />the Workmen's Compensation, but in no event is the <br />employee to receive more than his xegular salary. <br />Employee will not forfeit sick leave time when injured <br />on the j ob . <br />EXAMPLE: Employee's salary is $100.00 week; he <br />has 60 days accumulated sick leave and he gets hurt <br />on the job: <br />He will be aid $49.00 a week from Workmen's Compen- <br />sation and51.00 a week sick leave pay; making a <br />total of $100.00. <br />60 days sick leave = 12 wks. or $1200.00 <br />$1200.00 $51.00= 23.5 weeks that sick <br />leave will supplement Workmen's Compensation. <br />After this time, if employee is unable to <br />return to work, he will receive $49.00 a week <br />Workmen's Compensation for the period provided <br />by law. <br /> <br />
