ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS - (CONTINUED) <br />There was a brief discussion regarding the Harris County <br />.Community Development Grant; engineering work has been begun <br />for the street work for the $200,000.00 grant; proposed projects <br />for future grants were recommended by Harris County Community <br />Development as follows: Covered Patio over North Side Basket- <br />ball Court; Renovate South Side Civic Center; H.U.D. Rehabilitation <br />Grants for home improvement might be administered in La Porte; <br />handling and monitoring loans, Harris County will administer <br />paper work; our Inspection Department will do inspections for <br />repairs. H.U.D. Office out of Dallas will make determinations <br />regarding the loans. <br />First Annual City Picnic - The Administrator reminded the <br />Commission of the first Annual City Picnic to be held on <br />June 16, 1979, at Port Haven Marina. Games will include Bingo, <br />Penny Find, Sack Race, Vollyball and Dunking Booth. The <br />picnic will be hosted by the Department Heads. He invited <br />the Commission to drop by. The first activities will begin <br />at 11:00 A.M. and last until 5:00 or 6:00 P.M. A dance with <br />live music will begin at 8:00 P.M. at the Firemen's Hall. <br />• <br />+ + + <br />12. COUNCIL ACTION - A. Commissioner Tomerlin stated that he would <br />be in town while the other officials would be gone to the seminar <br />in San Angelo. <br />B. Commissioner Cline stated that S. McKey was requesting <br />payment for his street work for the Boothe Homes Streets. The <br />street work was satisfactory, but she had some questions regarding <br />the ditches. Mr. McKey felt the ditches were Boothe's responsibility <br />for cleaning. <br />The Administrator stated that the ditch cleaning would be resolved <br />before payment was made to McKey Equipment & Construction. <br /> <br />C. Mayor Meza informed the Commission that we had received <br />one signed Industrial Agreement from Big Three. <br />D. The Attorney asked if everyone had received their copy <br />of the Peveto Bill. There was a brief discussion regarding <br />the Peveto Bill. The Administrator stated that there were <br />few comments on it at the City Managers' Seminar because of <br />so many rural cities. Mayor Meza felt it passed because so <br />many smaller cities rely on the County already. <br />+ + + <br />
