Councilman Tomerlin stated he <br /> would second the motion in order to bring the matter to a <br /> vote. The motion was tied, 2 ayes and 2 nays. <br /> Ayes: Councilman Tomerlin, Councilwoman Cline <br /> Nays: Councilman Kibodeaux, Councilman Simons <br /> Mayor Meza cast a nay vote and the motion to grant the vari- <br /> ance wad defeated. <br /> Councilman Tomerlin originally cast a vote "nay" but changed <br /> his vote in light of his second. <br /> 15. Council considered the need for fill material at the Public <br /> Works Service Center site. Public Works Director Hodge stated <br /> the area needs approximately 10,000 square yards of fill to <br /> raise the site to a 17.1 elevation. Hodge said he had made <br /> arrangements with the County to get the needed fill material <br /> from the County land fill at no charge; however, we must do <br /> our own loading and hauling. Hodge brought to the Council's <br /> attention the fact that the contract for the Service Center <br /> has been awarded and the contractor anticipates going to work <br /> within 30 days. Since Public Works has a deadline on the <br />. July 27, 1979 flood grant, all their equipment and manpower <br /> is tied up on that project. <br /> Hodge presented price quotations from several trucking firms <br /> and requested that the Council declare this an emergency and <br /> award the work (trucking and loading) to Hardy Trucking of <br /> Baycliff. <br /> Price quotes as follows: <br /> Daniels Trucking - 3 trucks - 15 cu. yd. load - $25.00 <br /> La Porte, Texas 18 cu. yd. load - $27.00 <br /> Loading - .55 per cu. yd. hauled <br /> Barker Trucking - $27.00 per hour <br /> Houston, Texas <br /> Hardy Trucking - $20.00 per load - 15 cu. yd. load <br /> Baycliff, Texas .50 per cu. yd. for loading <br /> Motion was made by Councilman Tomerlin declaring an emergency <br /> and awarding the fill work for the Service Center site to <br /> Hardy Trucking of Baycliff for $20.00 per 15 cu. yd. load, <br /> plus .50 per cu. yd. for loading. The motion was seconded by <br /> Councilman Kibodeaux. The motion carried, 4 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> Ayes: Councilman Tomerlin, Councilman Kibodeaux, Councilwoman <br />. Cline, Councilman Simons <br /> Nays: None <br /> -- <br />
