Finally, the City of La Porte has approved in the past, two similar operations in this very area, and even one in the commercial area of the City. I hope,- therefore, that you will not turn down my request for the same kind of operations. Thank you for your attention. 5. City Attorney Askins read:' AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 780, THE CITY OF LA PORTE ZONING ORDINANCE, BY CHANGING THE CLASSIFICATION OF THAT CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND HEREIN DESCRIBED; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF A motion was made by Councilperson Faris to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 780-UUU as read y City Attorney As ins rezoning Blocks 12 and 21 of the Nebraska Syndicate, from Commercial classification to Industrial classification with a special use permit to allow a container storage and repair yard. Seconded by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 5 ayes and 3 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Longley, Faris, Gay, Westergren and Mayor Meza Nays: Councilpersons Malone, I~ibodeaux and Simons Faris: Mr. Mayor, this is the first ordinance we have had be- fore this Council since I have been a member which required a green belt or visual screen between the actual operations and the Highway 146. I know that is not the situation we have with the other businesses out there now, but I personally think it's a pretty good idea. I would like to, since we are re- quiring it in this ordinance, require it in any future ordi- nance that the Council considers concerning this type of business in that area or along any thoroughfare to make sure that we are camouflaging the entrance ways to the City. I notice that when T go to Clear Lake and in Deer Park, that they have a good deal of planting and greenery around their major thoroughfares and in the case of Clear Lake, they have a tot of greenery in the medians, even. I think that's a real good idea, and something we should look forward to in our City. 6. Mayor Meza stated the Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 705 would be tabled at this time. L~
