Council considered authorizing the emergency purchase of a new engine for Unit 703-2, a 1979 Ford sideloader, from Eberling Manufacturing in Plainview, Texas. Funds for this item are available in the 1981-82 budget. A motion was made by Councilperson Simons to authorize the emergency purchase of the needed 3 cylinder industrial engine for Unit 703-2. Council Action Mayor Meza read a letter written by Spenwick Place Municipal Utility District, thanking the City of La Porte and the La Porte Public Works Department for the work done in some of the worst weather of the year last week to serve the District with water (letter a part of these official minutes). Councilperson Skelton: I've had some complaints from some of the constituents regarding the rough railroad tracks on 225 and. would like to get a letter written to the Railroad to cover this and see if we can't get this repaired.
