• • <br />• Minutes, Joint Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />January 20, 1982, Page 10 <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Simons to declare an <br />emergency and waive the bid process for immediate purchase <br />of a side diesel 3 cylinder industrial engine. Secon e y <br />Councilperson Faris. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />16. Council considered authorizing the emergency purchase of a <br />new engine for Unit 703-2, a 1979 Ford sideloader, from <br />Eberling Manufacturing in Plainview, Texas. Funds for this <br />item are available in the 1981-82 budget. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Simons to authorize the <br />emergency purchase of the needed 3 cylinder industrial engine <br />for Unit 703-2. Seconded by Councilperson Faris. The motion <br />carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />• Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />17. Administrative Reports: There were none. <br />18. Council Action <br />Mayor Meza read a letter written by Spenwick Place Municipal <br />Utility District, thanking the City of La Porte and the La <br />Porte Public Works Department for the work done in some of <br />the worst weather of the year last week to serve the District <br />with water (letter a part of these official minutes). <br />Councilperson Skelton: I've had some complaints from some of <br />the constituents regarding the rough railroad tracks on 225 <br />and. would like to get a letter written to the Railroad to <br />cover this and see if we can't get this repaired. It's tearing <br />up our cars and it is a dangerous situation. <br />Mayor Meza: We will write to the State <br />the Southern Pacific Railroad to see if <br />done about the situation. <br />Councilperson Skelton: Some of you may <br />today's paper. There was an article in <br />• cities getting more time to meet the U. <br />Highway Department and <br />we can't get something <br />have noticed in the <br />the Chronicle regarding <br />5. Wastewater Standards. <br />
