A motion was made by Councilperson <br />Skelton to award the bid for demolition of dan<irerousbui1dings <br />to Daniel's Dump Truck and Hauling for a low b~d of~7,800.00. <br />Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 9 ayes and <br />o nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Counci1persons Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />l4. City Attorney Askins read: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND <br />ALLOWING, UNDER THE ACT GOVERNING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIRE- <br />MENT SYSTEM, "UPDATED SERVICE CREDITS" IN SAID SYSTEM FOR <br />SERVICE PERFORMED BY QUALIFYING MEMBERS OF SUCH SYSTEMS IN <br />THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING FOR IN- <br />CREASED PRIOR AND CURRENT SERVICE ANNUITIES FOR RETIREES AND <br />BENEFICIARIES OF DECEASED RETIREES OF THE CITY; ALLOWING <br />CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY, WHO PERFORMED OR HEREAFTER <br />PERFORM ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE ARMED FORCES (OR THEIR RESERVES <br />. OR AUXILIARIES) OF THE UNITED STATES UNDER HONORABLE CONDI- <br />TIONS DURING PERIODS OF CONFLICT WITH FOREIGN FORCES, TO <br />APPLY AND MAKE DEPOSITS FOR, AND TO RECEIVE SPECIAL CREDIT <br />WITH THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT, SYSTEM FOR LIMITED POR- <br />TIONS OF SUCH MILITARY SERVICE, AND PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT BY <br />THE CITY OF ADDITIONAL DEPOSITS TO THE SYSTEM ON ACCOUNT OF <br />SUCH SERVICE CREDIT; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR <br />SUCH ACTIONS <br /> <br />A motion was made by Counci1person Graves to approve and adopt <br />Ordinance No. l349 as read by the City Attorney and requested <br />a coPy of the current TMRS handbook. Second by Councilperson" <br />Malone. Fire Chief Sease introduced Mr. Joe Lammers of the Lammers <br />Partnership, Architects and Planners, of Bay town, Texas. <br />Chief Sease stated he had reviewed several different firms <br />concerning expansions at Fire Station #1. Of those firms <br />contacted, Chief Sease recommended The Lammers Partnership <br />be retained to prepare the design and construction of the <br />expansion of Fire Station #1. <br /> <br />. A motion was made by Counci1person Westergren to approve the <br />architectural firm of The Lammers Partnership to prepare the <br />necessary design for expansion of Fire Station #lat 6 percent <br />of construction cost. Second by Councilperson Matuszak. The <br />motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
