• <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />March 16, ".1983, Page 2 <br />A motion <br />adopt Re <br />ayes <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />5. Walley Mahoney representing Joseph Chadwick appeared before <br />Council to request passage of an ordinance authorizing the <br />sale of beer and wine at 2199 Underwood Road. After Council <br />raised several questions concerning the type of business to <br />be operated by Joseph Chadwick, it was unanimously decided <br />to place this item on the March 23 workshop for further review. <br />6. Lou Lawler appeared before Council to request that the month <br />of April, 1983, be declared "Clean-up, Green -up" month in <br />La Porte. Lawler introduced Paul Green of Harris County, <br />who will assist with landscaping the esplanade on the newly <br />constructed Fairmont Parkway. Green displayed his plan for <br />the esplanade and discussed the kind of plants to be planted <br />in the esplanade. <br />7. Gus Faris was not present to discuss the La Porte Area Emer- <br />gency Ambulance Corps. <br />8. Council reviewed the 1983 agreement with Harris County to pro- <br />vide fire fighting and protection services to certain unin- <br />corporated areas. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Westergren to approve and <br />accept the contract. Second by Councilperson Skelton. The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Matuszak,.Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />Councilperson ,Lorvgl:ey. -reques.ted that City Manager Owen visit <br />with other cities in the area and enlist their help in jointly <br />striving to increase the amount paid by Harris County for this <br />service. <br />9. Council considered establishing an adopted policy and service <br />plan for the sanitary sewer trunk main along Fairmont Parkway <br />to protect the structural integrity of the 21 and 36"' trunk <br />mains by preventing the indiscriminate tapping for single sewer <br />service. <br />
