Council considered awarding a bid for a nuclear moisture <br />density gauge. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Graves to accept staff's <br />recommendation and award the bid for a nuc ear density <br />moisture gauge to Troxler Electronics in the amount of <br />$4,265.00. Second by Councilperson Matuszak. The motion <br />carried, 8 ayes, 0 nays, 1 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Skelton, Westergren, Malone, Longley, <br />Matuszak, Graves, Pfeiffer and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Gay <br />9. Council considered an ordinance setting the pay scale for <br />Civil Service employees. City Attorney Askins read: AN <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING .ORDINANCE N0. 1285-B, "AN ORDINANCE <br />IMPLEMENTING POLICEMEN'S CIVIL SERVICE; ESTABLISHING CLASSI- <br />FICATIONS; NUMBER OF AUTFiORTZED POSITIONS TN EACH CLASSI- <br />FICATION; ESTABLISHING PAY SCHEDULES; CONTAINING A SEVER- <br />ABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS <br />LAW; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFEC- <br />TIVE DATE HEREOF." <br />After discussion by council on possible inequities in the <br />pay schedule when moving from police officer to sergeant, <br />motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve-and <br />adopt Ordinance 1285-C as rea by the City Attornev. Second <br />by Councilperson Pfeif er. The motion carried, 8 ayes and <br />1 nay. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Gay, Skelton, Westergren, .Longley, <br />Matuszak, Graves, Pfeiffer and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: Councilperson Malone <br />Staff was requested to review the Civil Service salary scale <br />and present recommendations to Council in three months for <br />next year's budget. <br />10. Council considered an appointment to the La Porte Area Water <br />Authority. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to defer this ap- <br />pointment until such time as the roposed annexation is <br />,c~o_.m~le~te. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, <br />a7 yes and 2 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Gay, Skelton, Westergren, Malone, Longley, <br />Pfeiffer and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: Councilpersons Matuszak and Graves <br />
