Second by Councilperson Skelton. The <br />motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Bridges, Waters, Pfeiffer, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />16. Council considered adopting Ordinance 1285-D setting civil <br />service salary rates. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Councilperson Malone asked if this item could be tabled and <br />discussed at a later time. Mayor Cline asked Council to go <br />ahead and discuss it now. <br /> <br />Mayor Cline stated that by passing this Ordinance, it would <br />just go ahead and grant them a 3% cost of living increase. <br /> <br />Bob Herrera stated that the ordinance will set out positions <br />or classifications, the number of people in each <br />classification, plus it reflects the cost of living <br />increase given in the pay schedule. <br /> <br />Councilperson Westergren asked if they would get their pay <br />increase anyway even if the ordinance was not passed. <br /> <br />City Attorney Askins stated that the ordinance is dated <br />October 1st and even if there was a delay in passing it, <br />the pay would be retroactive to October 1. He stated that <br />Civil service required certain formalities. He stated that <br />the ordinance must be done around the Ts~ of October each year. <br /> <br />Mayor Cline mentioned that Item 17 concerning the Police <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />~ <br />
