The Mayor declared the public hearing regarding New Jerusalem Church closed. 5. The public hearing on the revenue sharing budget was opened by the Mayor after consideration of item 6. City Manager Bob Herrera reviewed the revenue sharing budget. The Mayor called for public input regarding the revenue sharing budget. There was none, and the Mayor declared the public hearing closed. 6. Council considered approving the minutes of the regular meeting of Council held July 27, 1987. Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the July 27 minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. (Councilperson Gay had not yet arrived.) Ayes: Councilpersons Lloyd, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 7. A. Tom Turner, Manager, USI Chemical plant, addressed Council regarding expansion of the USI plant in this area. He is asking Council support in the form of incentives that will cause the parent company, National Distillers, to build the plant in La Porte. One of the things Mr. Turner is asking for is a total tax abatement for a five-year period on the potential expansion. Mr. Turner would like a response by September 1, 1987. The City Manager was instructed by Council to work with Mr. Turner to see what can be worked out. The City Manager will have a response for Council by September 1.
