Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 13. Council considered an ordinance regulating the annual Main Street Fair. The City Attorney read: REGULATING THE ANNUAL LA COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. ORDINANCE 1608 - AN ORDINANCE PORTE MAIN STREET FAIR; FINDING MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance 1608 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 14. Council considered a resolution regarding the sale by United States Steel of the Texas Works Steel Mill to Iraq. The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 88-15 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, ENCOURAGING USX TO SEEK OTHER OPTIONS FOR THE TEXAS WORKS STEEL MILL OTHER THAN THE SALE OF SUCH MILL TO THE COUNTRY OF IRAQ; DIRECTING A COpy OF SAID RESOLUTION TO BE DELIVERED TO VARIOUS LEGISLATORS REPRESENTING THE LA PORTE AREA; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve Resolution 88-1S as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays.
