Council considered an ordinance to update City of La Porte Fire Code. The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1388-B - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1388, AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A FIRE CODE FOR THE CITY OF LA PORTE; CONTAINING A SAVING AND REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) AND EACH DAY OF VIOLATION SHALL BE DEEMED A SEPARATE OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to adopt Ordinance 1388-B as read by the City Attornev. Second by Councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 15. Council considered authorizing a date for public hearing on dangerous building condemnation. Building Inspector Mark Lewis presented a video of 13 houses proposed to be condemned, and asked that Council consider a public hearing date of March 9. Motion was made by Counci~erson Skelton to set a public hearing date of March 9 1992 for dangerous building condemnation. Second by Councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 16. Council considered approving the request of H. McElveen for a Special Conditional Use Permit. This item had been tabled at the meeting of January 23 by Councilperson Porter.
