0 9 <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />February 9, 1993, Page 2 <br />since the road work going on around the subdivision is keeping <br />the public from really knowing there is any building going on. <br />The site of construction is at the back of the subdivision, <br />and unless they use temporary signs, they feel the homes will <br />not be sold as rapidly. He suggested some rules and <br />regulations be put in place to govern the temporary signs. <br />Mr. Jeff Payson, Cervelle Homes, addressed Council to echo Mr. <br />Shubert's comments. He explained that the directional signs <br />did more than just show how to find the community, it also <br />showed that there is activity there. <br />Mr. Joe Green addressed Council regarding the proposed curfew <br />ordinance. He read a letter signed by School Superintendent <br />Richard Hays, supporting the ordinance. Mr. Green also <br />supports the ordinance. <br />Mrs. Janet Graves addressed Council as president of the La <br />Porte Bayshore Garden Club. She thanked Council for their <br />efforts in landscaping the City and their other beautification <br />efforts. She feels it has really made a difference. <br />Mr. H. P. Pfeiffer, President of the Board of Bayshore <br />National Bank, addressed Council and read a short statement <br />on the history of the bank, and thanking the City for the <br />privilege of being considered as a depository for the City. <br />Mrs. Lou Lawler addressed Council to thank them for their <br />participation in the pancake breakfast and help making it the <br />success it was. She reminded Council of the annual American <br />Heart Breakfast to be held on February 10 at Sylvan Beach <br />Pavilion at 7:30 A.M., and hoped to see them there. <br />Mrs. Betty Waters addressed Council on behalf of herself and <br />all other City retirees, to thank them for all the <br />consideration given to retired employees this past year. She <br />has received letters and phone calls from retirees asking her <br />to represent them and come to Council to thank them. <br />5. Council considered an ordinance calling the regular annual <br />election. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-1886 - AN ORDINANCE <br />CALLING THE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; <br />CALLING A RUN-OFF ELECTION, IF NECESSARY; DESIGNATING ELECTION <br />PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES; PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF VOTING <br />MACHINES; APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR METHOD <br />AND DATES OF EARLY VOTING; PROVIDING FOR AN EARLY VOTING <br />BALLOT BOARD; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF <br />SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING <br />
