"Commercial Recreational (C.R.) <br />District" . <br /> <br />Director of Planning Chuck Harrington reviewed for Council the <br />background, information, and reason for the request for the <br />amendments and answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />Mayor Malone asked for Public Input on the proposed changes. <br />Mrs. Helen McFerren was the only citizen with a question. She <br />was concerned about the "Commercial Recreational (C.R.) <br />District". Mr. Harrington clarified that this district is to <br />provide a specialized district for the establishment of <br />businesses providing or supporting recreational, leisure or <br />entertainment activities. <br /> <br />Mr. Harrington stated, "The staff and the Planning and Zoning <br />Commi ttee are very happy and pleased to recommend these <br />changes to the City Council for their approval." <br /> <br />Mayor Malone closed Public Hearing A at 6:36 P.M. <br /> <br />8. Council considered approving an ordinance amending the City of <br />La Porte Zoning Ordinance, Ordinance 1501. <br /> <br />Mayor Malone read: ORDINANCE 1501-S - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />ORDINANCE 1501, THE CITY OF LA PORTE ZONING ORDINANCE, ARTICLE <br />III, SECTION 3-100 "DEFINITIONS"; ARTICLE V, SECTION 5-600 <br />"TABLE A-RESIDENTIAL"; ARTICLE VI, SECTION 6-400 "TABLE A- <br />COMMERCIAL", SECTION 6-500 "SPECIAL USE PERFORMANCE <br />STANDARDS"; AND ARTICLE X, SECTION 10-300 "ACCESSORY <br />BUILDINGS, USES AND EQUIPMENT", AND SECTION 10-600 "OFF-STREET <br />PARKING REQUIREMENTS"; ADDING A NEW SECTION 6-100 et seq <br />"COMMERCIAL RECREATIONAL (C.R.) DISTRICT"; PROVIDING THAT ANY <br />PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED <br />GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE FINED A <br />SUM OF NOT MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1000.00) FOR EACH <br />VIOLATION; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Councilperson Sutherland left the table at 6:25 P.M. and <br />returned at 6:38 P.M., after the following vote was taken. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Porter to approve Ordinance <br />1501-S. Second by councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, <br />8 ayes an 0 nays. <br />
