CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE <br />APPOINfING A MEMBER(S) TO THE ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE (Ord. 97-2162) - Mayor Malone <br /> <br />Mayor Malone reviewed the summary and recommendation to appoint Rod Rothermel to the La <br />Porte Zoning Board of Adjustment due to a vacancy on that board which was created by the <br />appointment of James "Jim" Zoller to the Planning and Zoning Board. This vacancy occurred <br />by the passage of Ordinance 97-2159 at the City Council meeting on January 27, 1997. Mayor <br />Malone additionally suggested that Mr. John Willis be moved from the Alternate 2 position to <br />the Alternate 1 position for a term to end on May 31, 2000, and Mr. Rod Rothermel be <br />appointed to the Alternate 2 position for a term to expire on May 31, 1998. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 97-2162 - AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING ALTERNATE MEMBER TO <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY <br />CLAUSE; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Term expiring on May 31st of the year indicated, or until their successors shall have <br />been duly appointed and qualified: <br /> <br />ALTERNATE 1 - John Willis 2000 <br /> <br />ALTERNATE 2 - Rod Rothermel 1998 <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council person Gay to approve Ordinance 97-2,162 as stated by Mayor <br />Malone and the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Sutherland.
