Council considered approving an ordinance approving an interlocal agreement between the City of La Porte, La Porte Independent School District, and Reinvestment Zone Number One, City of La Porte. Assistant City Manager John Joerns presented summary and recommendation and answered questions for City Council. City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 99-2353 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, LA PORTE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND REINVESTMENT ZONE NUMBER ONE, CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Counciloerson Gav to approve the ordinance as presented by Mr. Joerns. Second by Councilperson Ebow. The motion carried unanimously. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing the sale oflots 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16, block 177, of the Town of La Porte. Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby presented summary and recommendation and answered questions for City Council. Mr. Rigby stated that the lending institution has requested an environmental study, which will delay the closing. Mr. Rigby recommended sale of this property with the stipulation that the closing should take place within a reasonable length of time or the offer will be void and the bid bond which is equal to 5% of the total bid will be forfeited. City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 99-2354 - AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE SALE OF LOTS 12, 13, 14, 15, AND 16, BLOCKS 177, OF THE TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, TO THE mGHEST BIDDER FOR CASH; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED RETAINING A SANITARY CONTROL EASEMENT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
