e e City Council Minutes 8-13-01 - Page 3 Assistant City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 2001-07 - A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF RIGHTS-OF- WAY FOR ROAD RIGHT- OF - WAY PURPOSES, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF BAY AREA BOULEVARD FROM APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET NORTH OF SPENCER HIGHWAY TO APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET SOUTH OF FAIRMONT P ARKW A Y, IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve Ordinance 2001-07 as presented by Mr. Kneupper. Second by Councilperson Warren. The motion carried. Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Warren, Young, Clarke, and Malone. Nays: None Abstain: None 8. Council considered approving an ordinance establishing guidelines to be followed by the Redistricting Committee. Assistant City Attorney presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2001-2502 - AN ORDINANCE DETERMINING THE POPULATION OF EACH OF THE COUNCIL DISTRICTS AND DETERMINING THAT THE POPULATION OF THE RESPECTIVE EXISTING CITY COUNCIL DISTRICTS ARE MATERIALLY UNBALANCED; DIRECTING THE REDISTRICTING COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE TO DRAW NEW SINGLE-MEMBER CITY COUNCIL DISTRICTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH CRITERIA ESTABLISHED HEREIN; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Councilperson Ebow to approve Ordinances 2001-2502 as presented by Assistant City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Peltier Brothers Construction, Inc. in the amount of $172,200 with contingency of $1 0,000. Public Works Director Steve Gillett presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions.
