<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Page 3 - Minutes 8/27/01 Council Meeting <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2001-08 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, NOMINATING A CANDIDATE <br />FOR A POSITION ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE HARRIS COUNTY <br />APPRAISAL DISTRICT. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to approve Resolution 2001- 08 as presented <br />by City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Warren, Porter, Young, Clarke, and <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None. <br /> <br />9. Council considered approving an ordinance appointing members to the Civil Service <br />Commission. <br /> <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera presented summary and recommendation, and answered <br />Council's questions. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2001-2505 - AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THE <br />CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION, <br />PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE, <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW, PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Griffiths to approve Ordinance 2001-2505 as <br />presented by City Manager Robert T. Herrera. Second by Councilperson Ebow. The <br />motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Warren, Young, Clarke, and <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />10. Council considered authorizing the purchase of the Omni-Directional Siren System and <br />the siren activation upgrade in the amount of $30,970.00. <br /> <br />Emergency Services Director Joe Sease presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve the purchase as presented by Mr. <br />Sease. Second by Councilperson Young. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Warren, Young, Clarke, and <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />
