PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />T AXP AYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br /> <br />The following citizens addressed City Council: <br /> <br />Dr. A. R. Moosa - 1007 S. Broadway, La Porte, TX 77571 - Thank you to Inspections <br />for their professional and timely service on a job well done. October 30th is Open House <br />at his new office. Thank you to all of La Porte's citizens for being supportive during the <br />nation's time of crisis. <br /> <br />Mayor Malone read a letter from Gerard Robins Company complimenting the Inspections <br />Department. <br /> <br />5. PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />John Joerns presented Crystal Scott with the award for Employee of the Year for 2000. <br />Ms. Scott was accompanied by her son, Jeremy McNeal, and her father, Lawrence <br />McNeal. Richard Reffpresented Ron Parker with the award for Manager of the Year <br />for 2001. Mr. Parker was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Parker. <br /> <br />6. Open Public Hearing - Mayor Malone opened the Public Hearing at 7: 18 PM. <br /> <br />Review by Staff - Debbie Wilmore presented summary and recommendation of <br />dangerous buildings by the Building Board of Inspection. <br /> <br />B. Don Skelton - 518 S. 4th Street, La Porte, TX 77571 spoke on behalf of his brother. <br />He informed Council his brother is disabled and wants to be provided three months to <br />clean out the home and have it demolished. Council agreed to his request. <br /> <br />Monica Lopez - 916 Sharie, Deer Park, TX 77536 (9602 Andricks, warehouse on <br />Andricks) requested Council provide her with three months time to demolish the building <br />herself. Council agreed to her request. <br /> <br />Que Thi Trinh - 2815 & 2817 Old Highway 146, La Porte, TX 77571 explained to the <br />Council that he purchased the property and was not aware of any problems. After the <br />purchase, he discovered the surveyor had provided him with a survey of a different <br />property. He asked Council to consider not condemning the structure to allow him to file <br />against the title company and surveyor. Mr. Trinh acknowledged he had no problem with <br />the City. Council agreed to grant him a three-month time period to take care of his <br />business. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Armstrong recommended Mr. Trinh contact his attorney and <br />have him contact Mr. Armstrong. <br />
