Council to consider approval or other action regarding Ordinance 2955 <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: Ordinance 2955- AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING THE DESIGNATION OF THE CITY OF REINVESTMENT ZONE "C" <br />- "PREFERRED FREEZER SERVICES HOUSTON PORT, LLC"; MAKING FINDINGS <br />OF FACT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Council member Engelken to approve Ordinance 2955 as <br />recommended by staff to designate Reinvestment Zone "C". Second by Council member <br />Griffiths. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Rigby, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Ebow, Clausen, Griffiths and Porter. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None. <br /> <br />9. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance authorizing a Tax <br />Abatement Agreement between the City of La Porte and Preferred Freezer Services Houston <br />Ports, LLC for real property located in the La Porte Reinvestment Zone "C". <br /> <br />Interim Finance Director Michael Dolby presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: ORDINANCE 2956 -AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A T AX ABATEMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND PREFERRED FREEZER SERVICES HOUSTON PORT, <br />LLC., A DELAWARE CORPORATION, FOR REAL PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE LA <br />PORTE REINVESTEMENT ZONE C; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Council member Clausen to approve Ordinance 2956 as presented by <br />Mr. Dolby. Second by Council member Griffiths. The motion carried <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Ebow, Rigby, Clausen and Porter. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None. <br /> <br />Councilmember Griffiths left the meeting at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />10. Council to consider approval or other action approving of a variance to allow construction of <br />improvements for a proposed Public Cold Storage Distribution Center to be located at 10000 <br />Porter Road, La Porte, Texas, to commerce prior to the execution and delivery of a Tax <br />Abatement Agreement with Preferred Freezer Services Houston Port, LLC. The variance is <br />"at risk" and does not commit or bind the City to approval of a Tax Abatement Agreement <br />with Preferred Freezer Services Houston Port, LLC. <br /> <br />No action was needed on this item since passing of Abatement Agreement. <br /> <br />11. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance appointing an Ad HOC <br />Committee for Proposed Bond Referendum. <br />
