See Executive Session Section. <br /> <br />7. Council to consider approval of or other action regarding Resolution 2007-17 <br />designating the Representatives for Houston-Galveston Area Council for 2008 General <br />Assembly and Board of Directors. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 2007-17, A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING <br />REPRESENTATIVE AND AL TERNA TE OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE <br />HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />FOR THE YEAR 2008. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Clausen to approve Resolution 2007-17 <br />appointing Chuck Engelken as the Representative and Georgia Malone as the Alternate. <br />Seconded by Councilmember Rigby. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mayor Porter, Mayor Pro Tern Rigby, Moser, Clausen, Engelken, Mosteit, Ebow, <br />and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Beasley <br /> <br />8. Council to consider approval of or other action regarding Resolution 2007-18 expressing <br />support for federal efforts to establish the Buffalo Bayou Heritage Area Energy Capital <br />of the W orId. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 2007-18, A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE'S SUPPORT FOR FEDERAL EFFORTS TO ESTABLISH THE <br />BUFFALO BAYOU HERITAGE: THE ENERGY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Clausen to approve the Resolution as presented. <br />Seconded by Council member Malone. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mayor Porter, Mayor Pro Tern Rigby, Moser, Clausen, Engelken, Mosteit, Ebow <br />and Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Absent: Beasley <br /> <br />9. Public Hearing - Council to conduct second of two public hearings to receive public <br />comment prior to institution of proceedings to annex the industrial districts and provide Staff <br />with any direction resulting from the hearing if applicable. <br /> <br />Open Public Hearing - Mayor Porter opened the Public Hearing at 6:38 p.m. <br /> <br />Planning Director Wayne Sabo presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />Council's questions. <br /> <br />Public Input: There were no citizens wishing to speak on this item. <br /> <br />Recommendation of Staff - to continue with the annexation timeline until further directed. <br /> <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 6:41 p.m. <br />
