<br />A position still remains vacant on the La Porte Area Water Authority. This position will be
<br />discussed at a future meeting once Council advises the City Secretary they have a person
<br />to fill the vacant slot.

<br />15. Discussion concerning the proposed 2008-2009 City of La Porte Budget
<br />
<br />Discussion held Monday, August 11,2008.
<br />
<br />City Manager Ron Bottoms opened with a general overview of the budget.
<br />
<br />Finance Director Michael Dolby provided an overview of revenues/expenditures.
<br />
<br />Departmental budgets including Emergency Services (Fire Prevention, Fire Suppression,
<br />and EMS), Police Department (Police Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Police Support),
<br />Emergency Management, Administration, Community Investment Fund, Hotel/Motel, Main
<br />Street Program, Fund 38-4B, Human Resources, Insurance Funds, Municipal Court,
<br />Purchasing, City Secretary's Office, City Council, Legal, Finance, Tax and Non-
<br />departmental budgets were discussed. Mr. Bottoms provided council with an overview of
<br />each department outlining the major decreases, increases and capital requests. Mr.
<br />Bottoms noted capital items would be discussed separately in detail later in the meeting.

<br />Council requested a new sound system be considered for the Council Chambers.
<br />
<br />The meeting was recessed on August 11, 2008, at 9:35 p.m. The meeting is scheduled to
<br />reconvene on August 12, 2008, at 6:00 p.m.
