(3) RESIDENTIAL~CUPANCIES <br />(a) Hotels, motels, dormitories and lodging or roaming houses <br />three (3) stories or more in height with exterior means of <br />egress shall be totally sprinklered. <br />(a-1) Hotels, motels, dormitories and lodging or rooming houses <br />two (2) stories or more in height with interior means of <br />egress shall be totally sprinklered. <br />(b) Apartment building three (3) stories or more in height with <br />exterior means of egress shall be totally sprinklered. <br />(b-1) Apartment buildings two (2) stories or more in height with <br />interior means of egress shall be totally sprinklered. <br />(4) All buildings totally sprinklered shall have an electrically <br />supervised water flaw alarm installed as per N.F.P.A. 72C <br />specifications to transmit an alarm to the Fire Department dispatch <br />office. <br />(5) All sprinkler systems with twenty (20) or more sprinkler heads shall <br />have a Fire Department connection. <br />EXCEPTION <br />In buildings with sprinkler systems that have four (4) sprinkler heads or <br />less, all applicable N.F.P.A. 13 specifications shall be satisfied except: <br />(1) The water supply may be furnished from the domestic water supply <br />line if said water supply is adequate to meet the sprinkler system <br />requirements. <br />(2) The sprinkler system tap on said water supply line shall be made <br />before the water meter. <br />(3) The sprinkler system water supply line shall not have any interven- <br />ing valves or connections, except for an emergency sprinkler system <br />shut-off valve located outside the protected area in an accessible <br />location. <br />Motion to approve as presented made by Delbert Walker <br />Motion seconded: John Dunham <br />Ayes: 7 <br />Nays: 1 <br />FIRE CODE REVISION <br />Artic e -Division 5 - Section 3.20 was discussed and approved to read <br />as follows: <br />ARTICLE 3 GE-~IERAL PRECAUTIONS AC~INST FIRE <br />DIVISION 5 FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS AND App'L,IANCES: C,L PROVISIONS. <br />SEC. 0 Lora. a ication s stems; a ication o ire ext' Quis e - <br />ment re 'rements where automatic s r' ers, etc., are insta e . <br />a Fire extinguishing systems sha e instal an maintained in <br />accordance with the Standards of the Fire Code. <br />(b) Local application systems are subject to the approval of the Fire <br />P7arshal and shall comply with one or more of the following N.F.P.A. Pamphlets <br />Nubmers 11,11A,11B, 12,12A,12B,15,16,17,18, and 69 as applicable. <br />(c) Application of fire extinguishing equipment requirements where <br />automatic sprinklers, etc., are installed. Where a building, portion of a <br />building or area is protected by an approved automatic sprinkler system or <br />automatic chemical extinguishing system, then the number of portable fire <br />extinguishers or standpipe systems required to be provided by this code may <br />be reduced to the number deemed necessary by the Fire Marshal or his designated <br />representative to adequately protect any specific hazardous operations or <br />equipment housed within such building, portion of a building or area. <br />Motion to approve as presented made by Paul Hickenbottom <br />Seconded by: Delbert Walker <br />Ayes: 8 <br />Nays: 0 <br />(2) <br />
