FIRE CODE REVISION • • Artic e - Dvision 5 - Section 3.21 was discussed and approved to read as follows: ARTICLE 3 C~EIVERAL PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE DIVISION 5 FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS AND APPLIANCES: GIIVERAL PROVISIONS .i . L1 Wet All buildings required by the Fire Code or Building Code to have a standpipe system for fire protection, shall have a wet standpipe system. The design and installation of said system shall be as per N.F.P.A. 14 specifications. NOTE: In addition to the aforementioned requirements, the following shall also be required. (1) Standpipe staiions shall have on outlet with one hundred feet (100') o hose and adjustable nozzle attached. have one, two and one half inch (22") cap. Class I liquids shall be transferred from underground tanks by meaas of fixed pumps so designed and equipped as to allow control of the flow and to prevent leakage or accidental discharge. Supplemental means shall be provided outside of the dispensing device whereby the source of power may be readily discormected in the event of fire or other accidents. Dispensing devices for flammable or combustible liquids shall be U.L. rated or Factory Muutual approved type. Flammable and combustible liquids shall be dis- pensed by U.L. rated or Factory Mutual approved pumps taking suction through the top of the container. All devices and/or pumps approved for the dispensing of flammable and combustible liquids shall be maintained in a safe and servicable condition, as directed by the Fire Marshal. When devices and/or pumps are found not to be maintained in a safe and servicable condition, the use of said devices and/or pump shall be discontirxued immediately, until proper repairs are completed and the device and/or pump has been reinspected and approved for the use by the Fire Marshal. Flammable and combustible liquids shall not be dispensed by a device that operates through pressure within a storage tank or container unless the tanks or container has been approved as a pressure vessel for the use to which it is subjected. In no case shall air or oxygen pressure be used for dispensing flammable and combustible liquids. This section does not prohibit use premitted by Section 16:36. (b) Supervision. Every service station open to the public shall have an attendant or supervisor on duty whenever the station is open for business. (1) On any retail service station dispenser accessible to the public, the nozzle shall be a listed automatic closing type. (c) Location generally (1) Dispensing devices at automatic service stations shall be located a minimum distance of ten (10) feet from a property line and so located that all parts of a vehicle being serviced will be on private property.
