PAGE 4 <br />All vehicles transporting hazardous materials shall b e in proper repair and <br />follow preset truck routes as prescribed in Article 5 of the City of La <br />Porte Code of Ordinances and shall deviate from these routes only to make <br />deliveries. <br />(a) No person shall leave a vehicle transporting hazardous materials <br />unattended on any street, highway, avenue, or alley, except that this shall <br />not prevent: <br />(1) The necessary absence of the driver in connection with loading <br />or unloading of the product, the provisions of Section 16.46 (b) <br />shall apply. <br />(2) Stops for meals during the day or night, if the street is well <br />lighted at the point of parking. <br />(3) When, in case of accident or other emergency, the operator <br />must leave to obtain assistance. <br />(b) At no time shall an unattached tank trailer, (empty or loaded), or <br />other types of trailers loaded with hazardous materials be allowed to park in <br />the city limits of La Porte except: <br />(1) Inside a bulk plant and twenty-five (25) feet from the property <br />line or within a building approved for such use. <br />(2) At other locations approved by the Fire Marshal but not less <br />than fifty (50) feet from any building except those approved for the <br />storage or servicing of such vehicle. <br />(3) When, in case of breakdown or other emergency, the operator must <br />leave the trailer to take necessary action to correct the emergency, <br />at which time the Fire Marshal shall be notified. <br />Motion to approve as presented made by David Paulissen <br />Notion seconded: John Dunham <br />Ayes: 9 <br />Nays: 0 <br />FIRE CODE REVISION <br />Article 22 - Division 1 - Sec. 22.6 read and approved as presented: <br />ARTICLE 22 - LIQUIFIED PETROLEIA~'I GASES <br />DIVISION 1 - GENERAL <br />SEC. Gas Division of the Railroad <br />Commission. <br />(b) During the unloading or transfer of liquified petroleimn gas, the <br />vehicle shall be located or parked clear of public thoroughfare, unless: <br />(1) The failure to transfer would create a hazard. <br />(2) It is impossible due to topography. <br />(c) Industrial trucks, powered by L.P. gas, when not in use shall be <br />parked in areas approved by the Fire Marshal or his representative. <br />(1) All fueling operations for L.P. gas equipment shall be done in <br />an approved mariner and location. <br />(2) Each piece of equipment using L.P. gas as a fuel shall have one <br />approved fire extinguisher of a minimtIIn 5 BC rating attached to the <br />equipment. <br />(3) Storage of L.P, gas containers for this type service shall not <br />exceed the requirements of Division II of Docket 1. <br />Motion to approve as presented made by John Dunham <br />Motion seconded; David Paulissen <br />Ayes: 9 <br />Nays: 0 <br />
