Page 2 • <br /> <br />(2) Where children are located on a floor (basement) <br />below the floor of exit discharge, at least one exit shall <br />be provided directly to the outside at ground level. No <br />facility shall be located more than one story below the <br />ground. <br />(B) Doors <br />(1) Each door in a means of egress shall be not less than <br />28 inches wide. <br />(2) Every closet door latch shall be such that children <br />can open the door from inside the closet. <br />(3) Every bathroom door lock shall be designed to permit <br />the opening of the locked door from the outside in an emer- <br />gency and the opening device shall be readily accessible. <br />(C) Stairs <br />Every stairway shall comply at least with the minimum require- <br />ments for stairs, as described in the Life Safety Code, in <br />respect to caidth, risers, and treads and shall be maintained <br />free of items of storage. <br />i4otion was made by Delbert Walker, seconded by Robert Byars <br />to accept. Motion carried. <br />Ayes: All <br />Nays: None <br />ARTICLE 31 SPECIAL OCCUPANCIES <br />DIVISION 6 FOSTER HOMES <br />SEC. 31.60 Protection <br />(A) Minimum Construction Standards <br />Each building used as a foster care home shall meet the <br />requirements of the La Porte Building Code and La Porte Fire <br />Code for the applicable class of residential construction. <br />(B) Interior Finish <br />Interior finish in occupied spaces in the home shall be <br />Class A, B, or C. <br />Motion was made by Delbert Walker, seconded by Mark Lewis <br />to accept. Motion carried. <br />Ayes: All <br />Nays: None <br />ARTICLE 31 SPECIAL OCCUPANCIES <br />DIVISION 6 FOSTER HOD~lES <br />SEC. 31.62 Extinguishers <br />At least a 2 3 4 lb. ABC portable fire extinguisher <br />shall be provided for the kitchen and cooking areas.. <br />Motion iaas made by Robert Byars, seconded by Mark Williams to <br />accept.
