<br /> <br />If an employee knows that he or she or a member of their <br />• family has to be admitted to the hospital, he or she should <br />notify their supervisor or department head before admittance. <br />However, should it be an emergency, notice should be given as <br />soon as practical. <br />Notice to Department Heads <br />When an employee notifies you of the need to go to the <br />hospital, please notify the personnel coordinator so that she <br />will know what to~tell the hospital if they call. <br />Retirement <br />The City has adopted a mandatory retirement program for <br />permanent full time employees. However, there is a ninety (90) <br />day waiting period before it is effective. The provisions of <br />the Retirement Program are covered in the Texas Municipal Re- <br />tirement Handbook. <br />Eligible employees may be separated by retirement in ac- <br />cordance with applicable programs. Employees shall be retired <br />from employment on the last day of the calendar year in which <br />their seventieth (70) birthday occurs. An employee's retirement <br />may be deferred by his or her request and with the approval of <br />the City Administrator, provided the employee is able to pass an <br />• appropriate physical examination. Retirement deferments shall <br />be granted on a year-to-year basis. <br />Section 9. Credit ~7nion <br />All employees, at the time of employment or any time there- <br />after, are invited to become members of the La Porte City Employees <br />Federal Credit Union.* <br />To become a member, an employee must pay a 25~ application <br />fee plus purchase of one $5.00 share (savings account). Payroll <br />deductions are made for savings and/or loans. <br />Dividends are paid to members with savings accounts. Loans <br />are also available at low interest rates after completion of pro- <br />bation and three (3) months service with the Credit Union.
