When a holiday falls on a Saturday, Friday will be <br />observed. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, Monday <br />will be observed. <br />3. All employees will be paid one day's pay for each official <br />holiday. To be eligible for holiday pay the employee <br />must work the scheduled workday preceding and following <br />the holiday unless absence with excuse is acceptable to <br />the department head. <br />4. Employees scheduled to work on a holiday, and fail to <br />work as scheduled, will not be eligible for holiday pay. <br />5. When an employee has to work on a holiday, the employee <br />will receive the day's pay plus time and one-half for <br />hours worked, except that employees of the fire depart- <br />ment who work twenty-four (24) hour shifts shall receive <br />holiday pay for only eight (8) hours. Time and one-half <br />shall be paid according to overtime policies defined in <br />Section 4. <br />• <br />15 <br />
