• <br />10. All employees shall be required to take at least five (5) <br />• days of vacation consecutively at some time during the <br />year. Employees with four (4) weeks vacation shall be <br />required to take at least five (5) days of vacation con- <br />secutively three times each year. Employees with five <br />(5) weeks vacation shall be required to take at least <br />five (5) days vacation consecutively four times each <br />year. The remaining days of vacation may be taken in <br />periods desired by the employee and approved by the im- <br />mediate supervisor. Vacation time may not be taken in <br />periods of less than one day. <br />11. During the first five (5) years of service an employee <br />is allowed to carry over five (5) days of vacation from <br />one year to the next by taking one week this year and <br />three weeks the next. Employees entitled to twenty (20) <br />and twenty-five (25) days shall take the full time each <br />year. <br />12. Each employee is expected to take a vacation each year <br />and will not be paid in lieu of vacation. <br />Section 3. Sick Leave <br />1. Each permanent full time employee shall accrue sick leave <br />at the rate of 4.615 working hours per pay period of ser- <br />. vice, and any such accrued but unused portion shall be <br />unlimited. <br />2. Leave with. full pay granted for illness shall be limited <br />to amount of sick time accrued. <br />3. Employees who are absent from work because of illness <br />must report their absence to their department heads prior <br />to their duty time on date of illness. Any employee <br />failing to make such report will be penalized by having <br />leave changed to leave without pay. " <br />Employees who are absent from work because of illness <br />for three or more days in any six (6) months period may <br />be placed on physical report status to ensure their fit- <br />ness for duty. Employees in physical report status must <br />submit to their supervisor a Doctor's statement of fit- <br />ness for duty upon returning to work after being absent <br />from work for illness. Failure to submit required re- <br />ports is justification for disciplinary action. <br />4. ~A11 department heads shall make spot checks of illness of <br />employees from time to time to be assured that sick privi- <br />leges are not abused. Abuse of sick leave privileges is <br />reason for dismissal. <br />• <br />17 <br />
