Death of relatives other than those mentioned above not <br />• included in the immediate family, shall be considered <br />individually and such time allowed as circumstances <br />warrant. <br />6. Department heads shall be responsible for appropriate <br />reporting of employees' emergency leaves. <br />7. Any additional time off requested may be granted by the <br />department head without pay. Evidence of death satis- <br />factory to the department head may be left to his <br />discretion. <br />Section 6. Administrative Absence with Pa <br />An employee ordered not to report to work or who cannot <br />report for work because of inclement weather or disaster may be <br />granted administrative absence with pay by the City Administrator <br />if recommended by the departmental director. <br />Employees shall be granted sufficient administrative absence <br />with pay, when necessary, in order to vote in an official election. <br />Employees called for jury service shall be granted administrative <br />absence with pay during such service and shall retain any fees <br />paid by the courts. Employees excused or released from jury ser- <br />vice shall report to their work stations in accordance with de- <br />• partmental instruction. <br />With the approval of the City Administrator, a department head <br />may grant an employee administrative absence with pay for purposes <br />of attending a professional conference, convention, training <br />activity, legislative proceeding, or civic function or meeting, or <br />for purpose of coordinating with governmental and private agencies <br />and entities in the interest of the City. <br />Section 7. Authorized Leave without Pa <br />In circumstances not falling within other provisions of these <br />rules, the director may authorize an employee to take leave without <br />pay under such terms and conditions as may be mutually agreeable <br />up to a maximum of two weeks. Authorized leave without pay in <br />excess of two weeks must be approved by the City Administrator. <br />Section 8. Absence without Leave <br />An employee failing to report for duty or remain at work as <br />scheduled without proper notification, authorization, or excuse <br />shall be considered absent without leave and shall not be in pay <br />status for the time involved. <br />• <br />19 <br />
