• • <br />An absence without leave constitutes abandonment of duties, <br />• which may result in dismissal. Absences of three consecutive <br />days without authorization will be considered as a voluntary <br />resignation. <br />Section 9. Pregnancy and Maternity <br />Pregnancy is treated as any other nonduty temporary disability <br />covered under the rules, and accumulated sick leave may be applied <br />for this purpose. <br />If at any time during pregnancy an employee becomes aware <br />that her and/or her unborn child's health is endangered by her <br />duties, she must immediately make that fact known in writing to <br />her department head. By the end of the sixth month of pregnancy <br />and at such other times as deemed necessary by the department <br />head, pregnant employees shall submit to their department head a <br />Doctor's statement indicating the employee's physical ability to <br />perform her duties. Employees returning to work after childbirth <br />shall submit to their department head a Doctor's statement indi- <br />cating the employee's physical ability to return to work. <br />Section 10. On-Duty Injuries <br />• An employee injured while in the performance of assigned <br />duties shall immediately report to their supervisor and receive <br />first aid or be taken to a doctor or a hospital. <br />Note to Department Heads: Fill out accident report, take <br />statements of fellow workers who witnessed the accident and see <br />that this information is attached to the attending physician's <br />report and forwarded to personnel. <br />When an employee is injured due to an on-duty accident, he <br />or she will be placed on injury leave, if warranted. <br />Workmen's Compensation will <br />salary as prescribed by law, and <br />of the average weekly salary for <br />days. <br />pay part of the average weekly <br />the City will pay the remainder <br />a maximum period of ninety (90) <br />• <br />20 <br />
