0 • <br />Minutes, Special Called Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />July 5, 1989, Page 2 <br />After acceptance of the Resolution, Mrs. Lawler introduced the <br />volunteers who were in the audience. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve Resolution <br />89-8 as read. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion <br />carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays (Councilpersons Matuszak and Gay <br />had not yet arrived). <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Shipp, Skelton, <br />Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />5. There were no citizens wishing to address Council. <br />6. Council considered an ordinance appointing a Mayor Pro Tem. <br />Councilperson Cooper nominated Councilperson Shipp; <br />Councilperson Skelton nominated Councilperson Gay. <br />Councilperson Shipp received the nomination by a vote of 5 to <br />1. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1650 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPOINTING A MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO SERVE AS MAYOR PRO <br />TEM OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, FOR THE TERM JUNE 1, 1989, UNTIL <br />MAY 31, 1990; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to adopt Ordinance <br />1650 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper. The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays (Councilpersons <br />Matuszak and Gay had not yet arrived). <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Shipp, Skelton, <br />Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />7. Council considered an ordinance extending corporate limits of <br />the City of La Porte, Texas, to embrace and include territory <br />within a tract of land at the intersection of Fairmont Parkway <br />and Baypark Road. <br />This item was deferred for action until after the executive <br />session was held. <br />8. Council considered an ordinance authorizing the issuance of <br />$4.5 million City of La Porte, Texas, General Obligation <br />Bonds, Series 1989; execution of a paying agent/registrar <br />agreement; and all other matters related thereto, including <br />immediate effectiveness. <br />
