Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />contract between the City of La Porte and Soules & Wallace, <br />Attorneys-at-law and approve appropriation of funds. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1836 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND SOULES & WALLACE, ATTORNEYS-AT-LAW; MAKING VARIOUS <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Clarke to ado9t Ordinance <br />1836 as read by the city Attornev. and to authorize <br />aporooriatina half the funds ($25.000) for this puroose from <br />the General Fund continaencv account. Second by councilperson <br />Thrower. Council considered an ordinance amending Chapter 13, Article <br />II, Section 13-27, Section 13-28, Section 13-29, and Section <br />13-30 of the Code of Ordinances of the city of La Porte by <br />providing a fee schedule; method of billing; providing minimum <br />charge. (This is the "weed ordinance".) <br /> <br />The city Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1837 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 13, ARTICLE II, SECTION 13-27, SECTION 13-28, <br />SECTION 13-29, AND SECTION 13-30 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, BY PROVIDING A FEE SCHEDULE; <br />PROVIDING A METHOD OF BILLING; PROVIDING A MINIMUM CHARGE; <br />PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS <br />ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND SHALL <br />UPON CONVICTION BE FINED NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS <br />($2,000.00), AND EACH DAY OF VIOLATION SHALL BE DEEMED A <br />
